April 2008 Archives

CenterNetworks offers their choices for local businesses around the Moscone Center.  As they say, "around the Moscone Center in San Francisco where the Web 2.0 Expo is being held are numerous great spots to help the conference attendee. However there are also even more spots which cater to tourists and convention attendees, that alas do not have great food or service.  So a few suggestions and a local, foodies, guide to SOMA near the Moscone Center."

They go on to suggest the following places:

Coffee/Tea

Samovar Tea
Blue Bottle Coffee

Restaurants

Canton Seafood
Tara
Straits Cafe

Tech Supplies

Apple Store
Central Computer

I don't remember when I first heard of Blue Bottle Café, but ever since Kevin Rose raved about it on twitter (or was it Chris Messina constantly talking about it?) the word has been going around the twitterverse... Kim also wrote a good post a few days ago that reminded me about it.

More info/discussion on Outside.in and pictures on Flickr. I will surely indulge tomorrow, been working hard lately, I think I need it, I deserve it!

What's your take on the best local coffee in SF?

(oh yeah, makes me think I should do the "best local beer" post soon, will need that too!)

Breakfast at Mums

Early breakfast for the Praized team, still on east coast time... Had a quick bite at Mums, the restaurant in the Tomo Hotel where we are staying for the week. Ok but not great is my verdict. Need to do some geek shopping now, heading towards Circuit City for 10am my hotel room is in dire need of a power plug upgrade for all my gear!

"No dinner plans for Thursday, April 24? Enjoy a delicious meal and help out a good cause at Dining Out For Life. Simply dine at a participating restaurant and 25 percent of your food bill will benefit the HIV prevention programs of the STOP AIDS Project."

The following restaurants are participating...

Moscone West

This is a good place to start, the event itself, Web 2.0 Expo, is taking place at the Moscone West Convention Center . The convention center is in the SoMa section of San Francisco (short for South of Market, ie, the neighborhood South of Market Street).
